What do you do when your depressed?

If something bad happens to you, how do you deal with it? Do you cry and scream, lock yourself in your room, read quran and pray? What do you think is the best thing to do?

  5. I spend time with my dogs.  They are just happy to be with me and their goofy antics cheer me up.

  7. Always do "Normal stuff" like exercise and medication, but that stuff is temporary fix, f at all anything.  Read This:

    “For instance, if a man ceases to take any concern in worldly matters, conceives a distaste for common pleaures, and appears sunk in depression, the doctor will say, “This is a case of melancholy, and requires such and such prescription. The physicist will say, “This is a dryness of the brain caused by hot weather and cannot be relieved till the air becomes moist.” The astrologer will attribute it to some particular conjunction or opposition of plantes. “Thus far their wisdom reaches,” says the Koran. It does not occur to them that what has really happened is this: that the Almighty has a concern for the welfare of that man, and has therefore commanded His servants, the planets or the elements, to produce such a condition in him that he may turn away from the world to his Maker.The knowledge of this fact is a lustrous pearl from the ocean of inspirational knowledge, to which all other forms of knowldge are as islands in the sea.”

    I also read in a something last night that a sufi named....I forgot, said the Prophets had the most stress and problems in life, then the saints, then whoever is closest to them next and so on bcuz God wants them near HIM (Ta'ala), he wants them to get closer to GOD.

    So DOnt worry, this may sound crazy, but it is a blessing. There is a story of someone who was very wealthy in the time of Prophet Moses A.S. who told Moses to tell God that he wishes to be Gods friend, Moses A.S. complied, told God, then came back and told this man that God accepted his friendship, then man said great. Then, this man started losing his wealth, his family, his wife (I think) left him and he was in ruins, he went to Moses A.S. and said whats up with this? Moses A.S. said this is how it GoDs love is, he said I wish to retract it (my friendship) then, Moses A.S. said once God takes u as a friend, u r so forever, then this man got stomped by a Elephant, but soon after he had the best feeling of his life (Haal, wikipedia it if u dont know what it is), he had this spiritual extasy, then he realized Gods friendship was worth any price and wanted to keep it, the end.

  8. I don't get depressed.  

    Things that are in my control that are bothering me, I change them.

    Things out of my control bothering me, I pray to Allah to change them and recognize that worrying about them won't do anything.

    And I try to keep reminding myself that Allah has given me a beautiful gift of life and I do my best to enjoy it :)

    But of course, to release stress, Qur'an and exercise are my medicine.

  9. i read Quran and pray to Allah and then deal with the problem and sometimes cry and think why people hurt someone and feel good.

  10. I have learned that writing about my feelings has been very helpful. Writing poetry or just writing down how I feel. Pop in your favorite music, grab your favorite pen (if you have one) and get a notebook and just keep a little journal, you can draw in it, write your feelings down, or write poetry. It's a great stress reliever, and it gives you a chance to express how you feel and let everything out without feeling embarrassed or keeping it all in.  

  11. i try to watch comedy movies or shows, and i eat when im depressed.

    i also vent by telling Allah everything and that makes me feel better

  12. Salaam A3lykum... i would advice that the best way to deal with depression or any other disorder  is pray, read the quran, and also some Dua,  inshallah you will be okay  Allah subhana wata3alla will help you

  15. I remind myself  this life is a test, and Allah (swt) wouldn't burden me with anything that I can't handle. also be thankful for what i have, and inshAllah everything will be fine. Reading Quran and praying also really helps.

  16. Make Du'a to Allah(swt). So some Dhikr, and get even more fascinated by the glorious Quran!

    I eat cheese and onion flavour crisps or Galaxy fruit and nut.

    Then I spam people with handwriting messages :)

    Hope for heavy rain, so I can walk in it?

  17. I pray to Allah for happiness, play with my cats, cry in my bed, and sometimes get really angry.  Sometimes I even have my favorite food.

    ......I get sad VERY easily.

    Then when I'm sick of sleeping I go out with my friends and they usually cheer me up and make me feel better.

    I think the best thing to do is to talk to someone or pray (if you're religious).

  19. I just stay focused and remember that whatever it is thats causing me pain will eventually pass. Allah never gives you more than you can bear, I always try to remember that and have faith and trust in Allah that he will bring me through my struggle succesfully and in turn make me a stronger person. Also with time, everything heals...the lost will find their way, the one in difficulty will find relief, and the day will follow the night. Continue to pray and be sure that Allah will help you, just be patient.

    Some things that I do to keep my spirits up are rather silly...but I wrote this in a blog so Ill just copy and paste it.

    What makes me happy

    ~Wake up with the feeling that the day will bring you something special (even if nothings been going your way lately)

    ~ Go to cardio classes at the gym (ya your gonna feel like you want to drop to the floor and die of exhaustion but their soo much fun at the end *exercise releases endorphins and endorphins make you happy* lol)

    ~Eat chocolate and plenty of it (there’s a study saying that it releases the same chemical as being in love; and plus it tastes soooo d**n good)

    ~Read a really good book (whatever book you want, just as long as its something that will take you away from your world and put you into a fantasy that’s too good to put down..fiction rocks)

    ~Wish on stars at night (its soo much fun and couldn’t hurt)

    ~ Take lots of pictures any where you go (vacations, good times with good people, self photos of you being silly cause your bored….put them all up and look back at them often)

    ~MUSIC!! (its my escape)

    ~Disney World (cute rides, good food, great people..what’s not to love?)

    ~Laugh until your stomach hurts…it’s the best feeling ever

    ~Keep a journal (I used to do this in middle school but stopped and recently started back up again…its fun to read years later)

    ~Bargain shopping is awesome (finding cute shirts for $5 is crazy exciting)

    ~It’s okay to cry, but when you do…make sure it’s a long hard cry..get everything out

    ~Light scented candles

    ~Bath and body works products can work wonders on your mood

    ~Try to take care of your home (its nice to come home to some where that’s cozy)

    ~Play with children (I have sooo many little cousins and being around them automatically puts a smile on my face)

    ~Go to local fairs (pigging out on funnel cake and turkey legs is the best part)

    ~Go to concerts and sing your heart out till your voice is almost gone

    ~Be happy being single…..love comes when you least expect it anyway

    ~Don’t lose hope in your dreams

    ~ICECREAM with tons and tons of toppings…yummmmm

    ~Go to bed every night and list 10 things that your thankful for

    ~Forget the umbrella and just run in the rain (this may sound hypocritical because I don’t do this a lot but when I do..its such a good feeling and makes you laugh)

    And lastly...Always try to be positive….what you give out to the world....the world gives back…make sure what your givin out is good

  22. It happens to me alot.

    I just go to my room. I like being in the quiet space.

    And then i think about why im depressed. And i cry making dua to Allah to change whatever or ask him for what i need.

    And usually I feel better crying and makign dua while offering salaat. I feel like it counts more.
