What do you do when your team technically doesn't have a Coach, a GM or a Captain?

Well the leafs Technically don't have any of these things.

Sundin's contract is up.

Paul Maurics is gone

and Cliff is just an Interim.

so what exactly do you do now? Panic? Laugh? eat until you break your scale? (okay okay.. the last one was just cause im hungry..)

but seriously

They will eventually have a coach. I don't believe you can start a season without a coach. Somebody will fill in for a gm maybe an interim gm it has happened before. I believe ottawa can shed light on that. As for not having a captain the penguins played a year without a captain, they had three alternate captains. Maio was still considered a captain in name only even though he didn't play. Crosby didn't embrace the captaincy until the pens made the playoffs. One of the many reasons I respect Crosby as a hockey player and person in general.

Technically you still have a captain. Sundin's contract doesn't expire till July 1st

you'll have a captain, just possibly not the same one as before. although sundin has stated many times he'd like to end his career as a leaf

but overall, just sit back and relax right now. many teams have gone through major changes before and while it may take a few years to get back on the road, surely this is no different. coaches, gms, and captains, come and go, its just finding a combination that fits along with the rest of the team philosophy.

but i would hope they have the coach in place by draft day or at least can tell their picks who to expect.

I second Bill for the job, well the GM job, as long as I can coach! lol

you first have to hire a GM that way the gm gets the coach he wants. Then the coach picks the captain, and the team is up and running again. The leafs need new, young blood there, and that means letting Sundin go and put a young player as their captain
