I know this may seem like a stupid question but, we just switched to cloth diapers for awhile, and are thinking about switching completely. I know that at home when he poops you have to swish them in the toilet and what not, but what do you do when you are in public? The same thing? I don't really like the thought of swishing my hand in a public toilet???? lol

  1. i saw really cool cloth diapers at babies r us, made for on the go, 3 cloth diapers and all u buy is the fill in... and when u change your baby's diapers out of your house u just flush it away!

it doesn't sound very hygenic sticking your hand in a public toilet even if you have gloves on lol

  2. Well,I didn't think they still had cloth diapers, still you have to comply with standard hygiene and do the nasty habit of what you detest to do,maybe you should consider disposable diapers,or carry latex gloves with you,

  3. I personally don't use cloth but 2 of my friends from my mums group do. One of them just uses disposables when out and the other puts an extra liner in for when they are out and just removes that and bags up the dirty one to clean when they get home.

  4. Just put them in large gallon size ziplock baggies and do the swishing when you get home.

  5. I would just stick it in a bag and rinse and wash when you get home.

I actually dont rinse my diapers after a p**p, but I do wash them every night.

  6. UK mummy got it pretty right.

I trust you put a liner inside the nappy.

Then if baby does a poo, just flush the liner down the toilet and have a plastic bag to put the dirty nappy in. This will keep the smell down til you get home

  7. actually you do not have to swish in toilet unless you wish to - you can wait till dry a bit, dump off in toilet and if you dry pail, place them in pail, or if you wet pail, do whatever it is when you wet pail method

in public just put the diaper in a wet bag/plastic bag as you would a disposable and just take home with you - plastic bag closed does not smell - then take care of as you normally would

  8. Take along a plastic bag w/ ziplock and just take care of it when you get home. If its a chunky p**p (sorry) just dump in the toilet and take the diaper home to wash, Or you could just do disposables for outings.

  9. G Diapers you can Flush and the decompose in 30days in the land fills if that's what your worried about.

  10. There is no need to rinse and swish cloth diapers in the toilet. Honestly, just shake p**p off in the toilet when you are out, if you have access to a toilet easily. Otherwise, just fold the p**p in and dump it out at home. Invest in one or two wetbags to keep your diaper smell and wetness contained in your diaper bag. We love the ones from Jamtots and Happy Tushies. You can use plastic bags too it you want, however, you are less likely to remove the diapers when you get home and sometimes, you forget and end up throwing the whole bag out! I have accidentally done that! Wetbags are $15 - $20, so they are a small investment and they are great for other things. I use one of ours as a swimming bag for our baby now, as it keeps her wet bathing suit and swim diaper from dripping everywhere. There will be many uses for these long after your little one is out of diapers.

  11. I would dump any solid p**p into the toilet, then just put the diaper in a plastic bag and put it in the diaper bag.  You can rinse more thoroughly, if needed, when you get home. (I used a diaper service, and they didn't require any rinsing at all.)

  12. remember to add something that smells nice inside the ziplock bag, or your bag will smell despite your best efforts! i pop in a few babywipes ive added lavender oil to.
