What do you do with a bottle of wine you don't finish at dinner?

Question

When you eat out and order a bottle of wine, if you don't finish the bottle, do you leave half the wine? Cork it and take it home with you?? What do you do? You can't be expected to drink a whole bottle in one sitting, can you?

In a lot of states you can take it home in a sealed to go bag. You can ask your server to re-cork it for you and 'wrap it up'. If you know you're not going to drink it all, you may be better served by ordering a glass or two next time.

Cork the bottle and take it home under the trunk of your car becouse you could not carry open wine bottles in the front if u do u might go to jail =D

I work in a restaurant and we have special bags that we put the unfinished wine in and seal it so that the patrons can take it home. It depends on state laws etc you'd have to research it in the area you live in. You can't have an open container in the vehicle but the bag once sealed is considered a closed container. This is the policy in FL. If your going to pay for the bottle of wine and you don't finish it you SHOULD take it home, restaurants mark wine up so it can be expensive there is no sense in wasting it! One finer point if possible is to have the restaurant use a device that extracts a certain amount of the excess air from within the bottle - that helps it keep longer.  Not kidding.  I mean, maybe you'll get to it the next day and maybe you won't - it's just a small technicality.

HOW YOU END UP WITH A BOTTLE OF WINE IS MOOT.  PUT IT IN THE FRIDGE......USE IT IN MAKING TOMATO SAUCE.....USE IT IN MAKING FISH DISHES ....USE IT IN ANY COOKING DISH YOU WISH.  IT DOESNT MATTER WHERE YOU GET IT FROM.....OR HAVE IT STILL AT HOME.  CORK IT...FRIDGE IT.....AND THEN.....USE IT.  BUT USE IT WISELY ACCORDING TO THE DISH YOU ADD IT TO.
