  1. wooot. seriously? because of not labelling books with names? o.o report him to your principal! he could have punished you guys in a FAIR way.

  2. Textbooks?  That should be school property and reportable to the Principal.  Based on the scenario, there is not a legitimate reason why the teacher threw the books away or why he wouldn't let a student who wanted them to have them.  Something very fishy about the teacher's actions here.

  3. Ok. I'm going to be very bold here.

    1. take the books out of the trash

If he sends you to the office, TAKE THE BOOKS WITH YOU. This smells of tenure.

  4. My guess is that he will pull them out of the garbage as soon as the students leave, since he can't possibly waste hundreds of dollars like that.  He is trying to teach the students a lesson about following directions.

  5. First of all - check with the teacher and or other administration to CONFIRM that these books are not "throwaway".  In our school system, even if the books 'look' good- they may be considered out of print/date and no longer a book that the school system will be using.  In my experience, those books are stamped "out of print" or some other stamp to indicate that the books are no longer in use.  The teachers in our school are given the opportunity to use them or they can be given to the teachers.  Before you go "off" - check out the details first.  Find out if you could have been given this book or not.

  6. Aah! Sacrilege o_O I cannot imagine throwing out perfectly good books, ESPECIALLY textbooks which often cost between $50 - $100

I would go to the teacher privately, and tell him respectfully that it really bothered you that he threw the books out. Explain your reasons (maybe he thinks you just want them because one of them is yours, or you know who they belong to, or that you want to sell them). Ask him if he would be kind enough to get them out of the garbage and do something else with them, he doesn't need to give them to you but such a waste of money and knowledge is pointless. Perhaps in a non-class environment he'll explain to you why he did it.

If you still get a bad response talk to the principal or someone higher up than him and explain what happened. Certainly don't call him an @ssh0le to them :p

  7. Methinks your teacher is not  "a @ss hole." (An English grammar teacher I would guess...)

Did he not tell y'all to put your names in your books?

And you bright bulbs were no doubt not paying attention when he said it.
