I moved into my house 2 years ago and I still get lots of mail from the previous owners. This is not junk mail either, its bills of all sorts. Anyhow, I put a slash through the address and leave the letters in the box. Eventually the mail man takes them, but brings them back the next day or so. I have no clue where they have moved off to. I even went as far as to write on the envelope, wrong address/ moved. This still didnt help. Letters are still here. I don't want to throw these away, but I even asked at the post office and they just said to put a slash through the address. will it ever stop????

  1. Write 'Not known at the address' or similar on the envelope and post it back in the mailbox.

  2. write return to sender and drop them in a mailbox

  3. same as a new phone number and u get all the annoying calls cuz old user number owed ton o bills and calll allllllllldayyyyy mail person not at this address  return to sender

  4. You need to call the Post office and ask to speak to your Letter Carrier.  Tell him the names of the people who are gone and how long they've been gone.  If its two years a regular forward's no good, what he has to do is fill out a new fangled form (3575z) which puts the person's name into the forwarding system and generates yellow stickers, but on them its printed "Moved left no address."  When companies start getting this official label they will remove the prior person's name from their lists.  The form (3575z) is very new, so your local PO may have to requisition it.

  5. Your letter carrier is neglecting their duties. However, you may be on a route that is delivered by replacements (until filled permanently) so they may not wish to rts mail unless they are certain.

Find the number of your local depot and ask to speak to a Supervisor, as the main postal call centre is filled with bureaucrats, and we all know their habits.

  6. cross out the address, write return to sender, no longer at this address
