What do you do with the masterball in pokemon crystal? Is there some special task you use it for?

The master ball never fails. Use it to catch the hardest Pokemon in the game, like Lugia or Ho-Oh. There's no specific task, You just use it to catch pokemon

NOTE: Iunno if this was a glitch, But I fought Lugia and threw the masterball and it didn't work! You still should weaken the pokemon then use a masterball!
