The points are use for reaching the next level. There are no prizes for the points except for the occasional promos. :)

its just something kind of dumb that just over time (with the more points you have) you can ask/answer more questions on your daily limit

nothing monitarily..but you get the personal satisfaction that maybe you've helped somebody else out.
