What do you do with your luggage on TGV trains in France?

I will be travelling between Morlaix and Guingamp on the Brest to Paris line in a couple of days time with two family members. Between us, we will probably have one smallish and one larger suitcase with us.

Is is neccessery to have luggage stored elsewhere or is it OK to take it on the train? If so, where should I put the luggage and where should I collect the luggage at the end of the journey?

Also any other advice would be great.

Thank you!

  1. The previous answer is spot on.  Make sure you have a reservation for the TGV - your ticket should show your carriage and seat numbers.  On the platform there will probably be an electronic indicator showing what part of the platform you need to wait at for your carriage.  Saves a last minute dash as TGVs can be very long trains!

  2. There are luggage racks by the entry doors for larger pieces. Smaller pieces can be put at your feet or overhead, though the overhead bins tend to be rather narrow. You collect your larger pieces before disembarking. Be certain to listen for station announcements.

TGV system is fantastic. You can get almost anywhere in France in only a few hours. There is a station at deGaulle airport and another at Lyon-Satolas.
