  1. I'm born and raised in Hawaii, but I've always loved to eat poi with lots of sugar(sorry mom). = )

  2. Iced guava juice! yummy!

  3. ahh..am hungry

  4. Don't eat poi, but I do like taro chips :-)

I love the lau lau, lomi salmon, kalua pig, kalbi ribs, rice.  No poi . . .

  5. lomi lomi salmon

  6. warm foods  :]

  7. I grew up eating poi as a side dish but as a child found it bitter so my grandfather (opo) often put evap. milk and sugar in it to sweeten it up for the children. Which is a common practice especially for infants who need something more substantial in their milk. The really pudgy babies are often referred to as "POI babies".

  8. I lived in Hawaii as a child for two years and attended Queen Liliuokalani Elementary School.  Poi and fish used to be staples many years ago, but, at least when I was there, poi was served as a side dish rather than the main dish.  I never developed much of a fondness for poi, but found it quite palatable when eaten with mouthfuls of pork or Spam.  At school we regularly had mystery stew on rice with a pile of mixed Asian greens, but no poi.

  9. i do not know what is poi, if i will know what it is, then i can decide what will i eat with it.

  10. pulled pork.

  11. I personally can't stand poi, but I am out numbered in my household.  The guys love their poi!  My dad will treat himself with Sardines, cut up and mixed with chopped Maui Onion and tomatoes, with a side of poi.  My younger son loves Aku Poke and Poi.  My oldest will eat poi any way he can get it, with anything available.

FYI Aku is the Hawaiian name for skipjack tuna.  Poke is raw, cubed fish, mixed with Ogo sea weed, onions, shoyu (soy sauce) and other seasonings.
