  1. they will eat after theyre first shed. when mine was a baby she ate earthworms, nightcrawlers, rosy minnows, goldfish, and later, pinkies. never feed fish as their entire diet because they dont have enough nutrition. earthworms are the smallest and easiest for them to catch. dust the worms before feeding them.you should feed them in a seperate cage to avoid fights over the food. try not to feed live pinkies because if your snake doesnt want it will die.

  2. not sure what you mean, your question goes against your details, but id buy them pin size krikets

  3. The babies won't need to eat until after their first shed, which is about at a week of age. They will eat minnows, such as rosey reds from the pet store, or worms. They do not eat crickets.

  4. No insects of any kind! Garters do just fine on earthworms, salamanders, slugs, small fish/minnows occasionally, but not too often as an all fish diet will eventually harm your snake due to a serious vitamin deficiency.

PS: You don't have to "dust" the earthworms with anything as they are a complete, nutritious meal for a garter snake.

  5. The cheapest way to feed them is to go find slugs in your yard or worms.  When my snakes had young thats what I did and they loved them.
