  1. We use lab blocks (sorry we are in Western Australia so brand names will not help) as well as offering a range of fresh fruit and vegetable daily. For our younger rats we give them some infant soy formula and baby food to help keep them growing.

If you would like more ideas on foods that are safe and not safe have a look here :

    Hope this helps

  2. Normally you would feed them hamster pellets. You can buy them at any pet store. They also eat anything we(humans)eat!EXCEPT: anything sticky, no sugar(candy), spices, and make sure to run there food over the sink before you feed it to them to make sure it's clean(But you can just feed them pellets right out of the bag).

  3. Lab blocks and fiestas rat and mouse food. and for the little ratties sake could you not capitiliaze theyre name its making it seem like thier not THE BEST animals to own....good luck!

  4. Oats, corn, nuts, dry cereal and sometimes I give my rat a little can milk. You can get books at your library or your pet shops.

  5. I feed mine lab blocks, I finally found a brand without corn. When I could not find a good brand of lab block, I used Suebees diet, which was great.

The best brands of lab block(which is recommended by most rescues and the RMCA)  is Harlan Teklad. It does not contain corn as the first ingredient, and no alfalfa.

The suebee diet can be found here, and is a good alternative if you cannot find a good lab block.
