  1. ferret food or a good cat food is ok too.

  2. You feed a ferret, ferret food just like you feed a dog, dog food and a cat, cat food. come on its not rocket science.

  3. In order to keep my ferrets from getting picky about their food, I mix a variety of high quality cat/kitten/ferret foods together, and switch brands every so often (Iams, Eukanuba, ProPlan, etc). I also give them meat on occasion - bits of hot dog, steak, bologna, chicken, whatever I am eating at the time. For a treat, I give ferretone, cat/ferret treats, sometimes bits of fruit (they like the taste, even if they can't get any nutrients from them).

  4. you can feed it cat food. But a great website to buy some food is ferretdepot.com  they sell all ferret items

  5. I feed our ferrets The Ferret Store™ Superior Choice Original Ferret Diet and Pretty Pets Natural Gold Hi-Pro Lo-Carb Ferret Food mixed together.

Their coats feel good and they are very active even as they are getting older. They aren't the cheapest food but I have found them to be good quality.

I have not tried the Innova Evo Ferret food but based on my experience feeding Innova to our dogs, I would probably recommend that as well.

  6. I don't have a ferret, and I have done re-search on them,

I'd feed your little guy some veggies, this I know they like.

and for a bonus, every once in a while, you can let him l**k peanut butter off your finger.

[Thats what i let my hamster do, when he behaves himself.]

So, remember, fruits, veggies, crackers & peanut butter as a treat.

    Yumm.

  7. as long as the ferret food is over 32% protein it should be fine, also its good if it has alot of meat based ingredients. i would try and mix 2 or 3 different brands of ferret food so that your ferret doesnt get bored and also incase the food you are feeding isnt in stock or you get hold of it, you could even mix the ferret food with a high quality cat/kitten food.

also adding raw meat too your ferrets diet will help ensure it is healthy and also makes a great treat, you can give most types of meat for example lamb/beef mince, chicken wings, pork. usually the cheaper the meat the fattier it is so it has more nutrional value, the bones also are a good source of calium and clean theyre teeth.

    treats:

-ferretone, its a vitamin treat which ferrets love!!

    -tuna, tune in olive oil.

-raw egg, leave the egg shells with it, too much can make a ferret ill though so should only be given as a treat once a week. some people add luke warm tea(with the milk and sugar) this partly cooks the egg so its not harmful to the ferret.

    -cat milk/lacto free milk.

  8. I like to feed mine a variety of ferret and cat/kitten kibbles. My ferrets' food mix consists of Innova EVO ferret and/or feline, Nature's Variety Instinct dry cat food, ZiwiPeaks cat cuisines, Stella & Chewy's freeze dried foods, Wysong foods, and Zupreem. I've also fed my ferrets and recommend Wellness CORE cat food, Horizon Legacy cat food, and Go! Natural grain free cat foods. I think they're some of the better kibbles on the market, but I don't think it's the best possible food. The best food for a ferret would be a raw, natural diet, but that's not something I'm comfortable feeding my ferrets right now because I don't think I know enough about it to do so. As for treats, mine don't really get any. A little Ferretvite or Ferretone once in a blue moon, but that's about it. I just hand feed them their food from time to time and they see that as a special treat.

  9. 8in1 Ultimate is a really good food and pretty popular since it can be purchased at nearly all major chain pet stores.  Evo is another good one...Path Valley is also a great food.  Some high quality cat foods can be fed as well in your mix.  I happen to like Wellness Core.

My ferrets enjoy Bandits treats.  They also like the occasional piece of a cracker, or pretzel.  Ferrets also love sweets, however, if you do offer them it has to be in EXTREMELY small amounts.  Nothing should exceed the size of your pinkie finger nail.
