A very tough game indeed! I dont want to compare it American Football or so, just wanna know when you guys are gonna get more interested in the great game of RUGBY! It would be great to see the USA kick some British or Aussie *** on the Rugby field, dont you think?

  1. I'm Canadian, and Rugby is commonly played in High School's here... It's rough, which is what makes it popular, as it has to compete with Lacrosse and Hockey...

  2. I think rugby guys are hotter, I love their uniforms!

I'd love to play it, I think they have club teams for men and women in US colleges.

  3. I am 13 at i have always been interested. Although it is hard to learn much about the great sport. mostly becuz you never find it on tv here in the states. I love the sport. But us beating australia or england. haha yea "someday" maybe.

  4. i realy dont like it its not my cup of tea, because its not that entertaining to me or my friends.its just like there just pushing each other, and i hate the uniforms the short shorts and polo shirts,to me its kinda fruity.

  5. pretty impressed with it, dont get the scrum thing though.

  6. i dont see much rugby being played or on tv here so im not sure but i know one thing for sure if we did play it alot here we would be the best. we are the best at everything not being cocky just  telling the truth.

  7. Pretty dang tough game.

I think its kind of "regional" though and will be hard to get an American team to compete, (and probably never on the level of the Aussie's or Brit's teams.)

Its sort of like American football...it hasnt really passed on to other regions and gained popularity like in the states.

    Great game, though.

  8. I don't know too much about rugby, but I sure as h**l have a respect for those guys going out there and being that rough without any pads or helmets... sure says something about our football players who are in full gear, go out and do a few plays, then get pulled because they're tired.

  9. A lot of my friends want me to play it because supposedly I'm good at rucking. (Is that how it's spelled?) I know my school has a rugby team and its always fun to go out and watch them play.

  10. It's growing tremendously right now.  I started playing it about 18 years ago, and it was pretty obscure then.  Now the number of clubs is increasing.  More importantly, the number of youth sides is exploding.  When I started playing, there was virtually no youth rugby...the earliest that most people could pick up the game was in college.  (There was some, to be sure, but it was quite rare.)  Now there is youth rugby for various age groups (and girls too) all over the country and the college game is expanding too.

There's also an exciting new trend.  The earliest members of some youth clubs are growing up and are too old to play at that level.  Rather than joining established senior clubs, they are starting their own clubs, which is a fantastic sign of growth.

On the downside, it's always been rare on television.  When I started, you could find a bit of rugby league on tv (despite the fact that the game has no presence here to speak of).  That was because the rugby league authorities in Australia would practically give footage away, whereas the union authorities charged exorbitantly for it.  Nowadays, union is available on an obscure satellite channel that requires a special subscription.  Since I don't have satellite tv, I can't watch the World Cup except on my computer...and I suspect that that will be delayed.  But not having the sport's premier event on accessible television really hampers the spread of the sport.
