What do you guys think about Darren Helm?

Question

I think he's only 20. He's being compared to Kris Draper as far as skating and speed. He impressed the h**l out of me in the Finals this year. I think this kid has potential. Thoughts?

I <3 Helm. He has great speed, is good a good puck handler, and isn't afraid to throw his weight around. He has a good future with the Red Wings. With Drake probably retiring and his playoff preformance this year I wouldn't be suprised if he is in the line-up next year. He just need to work on his face-off skills with Draper and he will be a insta-winner next season.

helm is an amazing young talent and did a great job for the wings in the playoffs he came in in game five against Nashville and has done a great job for us the future is bright for this kid and look he has something Crosby and malkin don't have a cup ring he more composed than them in the media spotlight he doesn't cry like Cindy or anything like that

i think i started cheering louder for helm louder then the regulars there towards the end. he is amazing. what a find! i think hes going to do nothing but help our line up and i cant wait to see what he does during a full regular season. the wings have some great young talent but he's impressed me the most. and maybe thats becuz i saw what he did for us in the playoffs and i am ignoring the regular season but... d**n. can you blame me?! lol. and he is a draper type. he is so fast!! you need a few guys out there like that. although draper will be missed deeply when he does retire, i feel like helm will fill those skates pretty well. at least in the speed department

I think he's gonna be a better version of Kris Draper in a few years.

He's 21 actually and adjusted to the playoffs amazingly fast.



Comparisons to Draper are worthy however, I think if he gets much stronger he has the potential to be a better scorer and playmaker than Draper.

I am very impressed. He would not have been on the roster if he was not ready for the Red Wings system. He was dangerous everytime he touched the puck, and that brave play to crush Orpik at center ice then pass to Hudler for the goal was brilliant.

We're going to see a lot more from Darren Helm.

I am amazed at his speed. I see a bright future for him in the Detroit Red Wings Organization. He worked very hard in the playoffs, and he truly is an asset to Detroit. He did very well, especially for the fourth line. I see him like Draper as well.

darren helms played pretty d**n well in the playoffs and in the d**n finals i see alot of potential for him but he is too young to compare him to a veteran like kris draper and also it is to early to compare him to anyone becuse let helms be helms.

I thought he was great.  The last two games of the final were his best games all playoffs.  I hope he impressed the Detroit manegement enough to keep him in the lineup and trade Zetterberg or Datsyuk to Ottawa for Emery..............you know..........to create a roster space  ;)
