  1. I think it's their money and they should do what they want with it.

  2. 'the church' is too general, there are many 'churches' that have very poor congregations and others that have very wealthy congregations, but none of them spend as much money as organized sports

  3. that is why the man gave them the money He knew what they would use it for and that is what there going to do.

Churches mosks and synogaues are the largest contributos to charity in this country

Without there charity all major cities in this country would go bankrupt paying for the social serviced churches proivide

    this is a fact

That chruch if it is like most churches probably has larger space to provide charity in.

care for the sick the elderly the poor the soup kitchens now more people will have a space to do that while providing a place where human social interaction can occur.

When is the last time you got out?

  4. Is it really that surprising?

It's a mistake for that church to get the money, in my opinion.

  5. Could not see it Dial-up.

Depends on whether it is 3 guys named Izzy or 7 million worshipers.  That would be just 50 cents a head.

So is this just 1 single church?  In which case someone is getting fleeced unless it is downtown New York, New York.  In which case, they are still getting fleeced.

It is not my money or your money involved is it?  In which case our opinion does not matter if the money came to them legally.

  6. Maybe if you l**k the church it'll cure cancer.

Btw, the church gets way more than 3 million bucks a year. This is chump change.

  7. A church is a charity.

  8. Ezekiel 16:49

Behold this was the sin of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness... and  she did not strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.

  9. perhaps by creating jobs by spending 3 million to build a new church they are making people's lives better

  10. If you look at the stats, 80% of charities in the USA are run by religious churches and groups.

While I prefer a nice simple church, if they need the space and they are growing, so be it.

As long as they are continuing their outreach and their focus is on Jesus, I see no problem.

  11. As a Christian, I don't like it.  I think that money should be spent on sending people out with the Gospel and taking care of their needs.  It should also be spent on taking care of poor Christians (not the poor in general) and widows in the church.  There is nothing in the Bible saying that the Church must take care of non-Christians who need charity.

Most churches in America these days think according to that "Field of Dreams" line: if you build it, they will come.  They have lost sight of Jesus' Great Commission: go out into the world and make disciples

  12. Which brings more adherants and more money which in turn means more money to donate to charities...It expands just like any other business does when it`s growing..

  13. What Church?  My Church receives money and uses it to support various missionaries, Church activities, bills, salaries, and whatever is needed that they are involved.  We have bought land and built upon it.  But, most of the money was donated with this in mind above and beyond tithe.  Other Churches have to pay a general budget to their hierarchy and they spread that money around to other Churches in need or start new Churches in other areas.  I do not like a forced budget, but that is how some work.  Remember the Church is a Charity and should turn it around to help the lost.  If they do not those in Charge will face God on the last day and it will not go so well with them.

  14. Disgusting!

  15. That was the wishes of the donor - whom also wished to remain anonymous.

Providence or coincidence? A great story!

Now they will have more money to give to charity! It's a win-win situation! Ain't God awesome?

    God love you!

  16. Well, what do you think of China spending billions on the Olympics while seeking international aid to help its earthquake victims? Why is there always a bias toward criticising how the church spends its money?

  17. Churches build new buildings all the time.  I am sure they are not forgetting charities and such.  Giving away everything you have to help others is not very smart.  YOU are responsible to YOU first.
