The rule has been Amended. Al can swing it as long as it is after he leaves the ICE! Better than nothing.

They should have fined McCleod from the AVS for doing it! He went directly against the rules that the Detroit Staff was told not to do. He picked it up, swung it and threw it! PUNK!

I dont understand what the big deal is its been going on forever its not like it has injured anyone. the NHL needs to lighten up a bit. Its a way the fans get pumped let them enjoy their glory until the pens come and take it all away lol

Buttman wouldnt want any franchise to to have any long standing traditions. Why make a hockey game fun and celebrate the history of the game when we can go all generic and make sure the fans only get hockey and no tradition. Hockey is the one sport that has a long history of franchise traditions and superstitions but the idiots that run hockey now are trying their hardest to ruin every aspect of the game. Maybe we can go to 6' x 6' nets and use a running clock Mr. Buttman. This octupi tradition dates back to the Original 6, it makes no sense to take away something that actually has meaning. Swing it anyways AL....s***w the morons (that would be you Mr. Buttman) and get another tradition started where us fans can contribute to the retarted fine (or a get rid of Buttman campaign before he completely ruins the game)!

The NHL has allowed AL to go onto the ice to retrieve octups thrown onto the ice, however the fine will be levied against the organization if Al decides to wave it overhead while on the ice surface. So yes, it is ok to do.  I wouldn t risk it (throwing) because you might get kicked out unfortuntely!

After all, it is a Detroit tradition!
