  1. Ths faster they come home--the better! The quicker the Republicans get out of office--the better!

  2. i hope they come back but don't thing it'll be too easy to pull them out too quickly if the new president does decide to

  3. sorry the troops will not be able to come home soon. the situation in Iraq will not allow that to happen. It does not matter what smoke Obama blows it does not change the reality on the ground.

  4. Na, they will just re-deploy and step up the pressure in stan.

  5. Did I read that right? "Ilovecarl" said she would be devestated if he doesnt come home because of "death issues." And he needed to come home so they can get married. OMG okay I guess I will leave that alone, but that is REALLY scary.

To answer your question, I am terrified of an Obama administration. He has everyone all lathered up about bringing troops home but he isnt listening to the commanders on the ground when he makes his campaign promises. We SHOULDNT be pulling out with a new presidency because Iraq needs us now, whether they want to admit how much or not. As someone mentioned (note he has 11 years in so what he has to say counts more to me as someone who has lived the life), we tore it down, it is up to us to build it back up and make sure they can support and defend themselves. We have permanent stations all over the world, what is the difference if we stay there to protect our interests? I hope and pray the troops arent pulled out because chaos will erupt and our troops will be sent right back (unless Obama has his head up his **** and thinks diplomacy will work with these people).

And McCain has said that he will decrease troop levels dependent on circumstances on the ground (go figure, listening to commanders who are actually there rather than testing which way the wind blows to determine policy). So as the Iraqi police and army can handle things on their own more and more, we can hand over more control. It is the smart thing to do, though apparently not the PC thing to do.

  6. Its a shame that these troops have been over there for this long.We here in the usa are always sticking our nose in other peoples business . You dont see other countries over there. Let them handle their own,. People are dying over much of nothing, and families are falling apart because of this drama. We have our own problems to deal with over here such as homelessness, hunger, and so own.I bet you your bottom dollar the US will not send these troops to Africa where war is ongoing.

  7. No, I don't think they will bring the troops home.  Obama has already said that he would just move them to Afghanistan, and McCain wants them out but doesn't have a time table for that.

As for when they might come home, not sure.

But listen, not ALL of them are transferred over there.  Especially not right away.  And, even if they are, it isn't forever.  Too long if you ask me, but not forever.

What they need to do is give these guys shorter 'tours' over there.  Maybe rotate more folks but faster.

  8. It's about dam* time. They will be brought home as soon as possible, from Iraq. Sooner than later if Obama is elected. Finally the stay the course, is beginning to subside now, with Bush and others to begin to see the light. The hard line is no longer working, so they had no choice.

The focus will become what it once was, and where it should have been all along, Afghanistan. Troop levels will begin to rise there. The military will send him wherever they want him to go, where they think he is needed the most.

  9. War is not fun, the president knows that. But if we don't fight, and "remain peaceful" or "talk it over with the leaders with a game of chess" like some people think we can do, then...

Our men are fighting for our country, and we should be proud. Not telling them how stupid they are being like some people are. A new president won't be able to bring in the troops right away. Plus it's just political campaign promises. People should stop being selfish and think about the other people in this country...world.

  10. Unfortunately, it would be absolutely irresponsible to abandon Iraq now.  As soon as there is no longer a U.S. presence, Iran will walk in and claim the land they have fought with Iraq time and time again!  We broke down a country.  We must build it back up.  We cannot leave until they are self sufficient and can defend themselves again.  No politician will make such a stupid mistake.

I am sorry to say, your boyfriend will deploy.  There is no question to that.  Especially as MT!  The Air Force is working hard to eliminate supply convoys and doing a good job of it.  However, boots on the ground is unavoidable.  Vehicles must be there.  Vehicle operators are required.  Vehicle mechanics must be available.  No ifs ands or buts!  Sorry, but I have had to leave my family at home many times, and I will do it again many more times before I must step off of the playing field.  It is hard, but there are support groups to help you through the hard times.  Also, to give you fair warning.  After everything gets quiet, and you two are settled in together, he will be notified that it is his turn.  About 1 to 1 1/2 weeks before leaving, expect stress and anger.  Please do not take it personally.  Do not doubt his love for you.  Seperation anxiety happens to the servicemember too.  I am guilty of it.  It is a normal process.  Hang in there.  Military life is survivable.

  11. you know, i was one  of those who said bring em all home now, but i have seen the truth.  first of all, there needs to be a bit of our troops there.  they brought the fight to our turf once before, and they will do it again if we tuck tail and run.  iraq right now is good, but there needs to be a level of peace keepers over there.  if not, it will be like pearl harbor or 9/11 all over again.  my husband is over there, and what he and the rest of the troops are doing is keeping america safe and free.  if you notice, most of the people who holler bring em home have never set foot in the military, and are too chicken to do so, so they knock the ones who are to make themselves feel better. as far as your friend, tell him the wife of a solider thanks him.  he may go over, he may not.  that is for the government to decide, but if he does, keep him in prayer, and he is not alone over there, and you are not alone here, there are plenty of us, and there is always FRG (family readiness group) to help out,  so call them.  sweetie, it will be alright either way.  i will keep you in prayer.  god bless.

  12. It's very simple.

If Obama wins, there will be a staged withdrawal, and some of the soldiers will be sent to Afghanistan.

If McCain wins, the war in Iraq will go on forever.  Afghanistan will collapse because we don't have enough warm bodies to send there.

  13. Okay, I can't answer your initial question, but there are SO MANY military girlfriend support sites and groups on the internet that can help you with exactly what to expect. My boyfriend is in the Navy, so I can't tell you what the marines go through, but check out the groups on facebook (if you have it), specifically one called "I <3 a marine." Sorry this isn't about the question, I just wanted you to know, because I wish I did in the beginning, it can be so rough!

  14. If Obama becomes president then yes, I would think a majority of the troops would be pulled out of Iraq. But there is still Afghanistan and I don't think troops will be withdrawn from there any time soon. As far as your boyfriend it all depends upon his Job, he might get deployed he might not, its really hard to tell.

  15. I hope they come home i miss my fiance and can't get married till he comes home. and if he doesn't come home cause of....death issues i'll be devistated
