  1. I think she has become a sideshow. Almost like John Daly. She can't win on the LPGA tour, why have her play with the men. It would be different if she was dominating the womens tour, but she certainly isn't doing that. In fact she has to enter tournaments on sponsors exemtions because she is not a full member of the LPGA. This is all an attempt to satisfy her endorsement contracts, she is being paid a lot of money by various companies to be out [playing golf. So she has to resort to these sorts of stunts to keep them happy.

I say let the top money winners in the LPGA have a chance at playing in the mens tourney's before you let Wie play.

  2. This is a case of someone who wants to run with the big dogs when the smart thing to do is to stay on the porch! I don't see that it is entirely up to her though. It seems that her agent is the driving force behind this exploitation. Her game has been suffering for a long time. She just doesn't ave what it takes to keep up.

I don't have a problem with females competing in PGA events. I think it is refreshing to a point. Its a good oportunity for the ladies to make some serious money. Perhaps one day, the ladies will be afforded the oportunity to compete for Fedex points and the final tournament could conceivably become co-ed. On the other side of that coin is the fact that women are going to be left in the dust! The bombers they will be playing against are 100 yards farther down the fairway from the tee. The women can reach greens in two strokes just like the men can, but they will be under tremendous pressure to hit the green with a long iron or hybrid while the men are hitting a wedge. I enjoy watching LPGA (some of the chicks are HOT). I think it should remain two separate associations and co-ed events should be limited.

  3. I think it is completely fine for her to play with the guys, as long as she can compete. The only issue I have with it is that she is trying to prove the equality of sexes in the sport. However, the LPGA does not see it as being even because a few years ago a man tried to enter a LPGA event but was turned down. Basically, the PGA is saying that women are not as good as men in general but they are allowing certain top-tier women to play in smaller men's events. The LPGA, contrary to most of their own statements, is showing that they do not feel it would be fair for men to play in a women's event. It is very inconsistant but it raises television ratings and since nearly every decision comes down to money the PGA will continue to allow women to play as long as it raises their ratings.

  4. I have no objection to her playing but can't see that she's there on merit.

She keeps seeming to get included on some sort of invitation, she never ever looks like she's in serious contention of winning.

And I would argue that including her means someone else is left out.

  5. She has been written off by the sports writers.  Now, is her time.  Ms. Wie will make her mark in the LPGA.   My take on her game is that she is going to work through her problems and be a world number one.  Her strength is not just distance.  She has the calm to be great golfer.  It is fine for her to be "allowed" to play in the Reno-Tahoe.  Remember there are men who labor into their 30s before winning an event.

  6. I don't understand what the heck her parents are up to, Michelle has NOT played competitive golf in LPGA, disqualified last week after failing to sign scorecard and she is playing against the boys now? Her parents should take the blame for all of the bogus!

  7. Michelle doesn't even deserve to play with the boys. Put in Laurena Ochoa or someone like her.. Wie hasn't done squat. I'm sick of her, to be honest.
