I'm getting a Bushnell red/green dot scope for my Marlin 30-30,my shots the last couple of years have been within 60 yards,I figured that the red dot would be perfect, what I'm on the fence about is the brand, what brand/model could you recommend for me?would you consider Bushnell a good purchase?I dont want to put a scope on there other than the red dot type because I like the idea of being able to keep both eyes open, its really thick where I hunt and I need something that will come up quickly, thanks

  1. G'Day mate it's up to you what you can afford, one thing i would say don't go china brand i use to have a red dot scope on my 7600 patrol in a 308 cal it kept moving it couldn't handle the recoil.I've got a burris scope on it now a 4x10x40 but i have also a burris red dot scope and that handles my recoil really good it don't move go the burris i recon you'll love it cheers mate

  2. If that is what you want for your .30-30 then you should get it.

  3. At 60 yards you should be able to shoot a deers eye out with open sights at that distance.

If you have to put a scoope on it a Tasco 3X9 X 40 should be all you need for a 30 30

  4. learn to shoot through a scope with both eyes open. it's not actually that hard.

not that that solves your problem. a 30-30 has less recoil than a 308 (winchester, i assume). not that i'd reccomend going for cheap optics, a scope that doesn't put bullets where you think they're going is dangerous. in terms of fast target aquisition, red dots are good ( i'll assume you're talking an open one that projects the dot onto a small plastic plate, in which case you're just as well with firbe optic sights.) If you do mean one in a full tube you may as well get a 1x scope with an illuminated reticle. i have no experience with bushnell scopes, but their bino's are good value.
