I think the reason that IT is so popular is because it's really high in demand. Everyone needs a IT specialist to help them with their website, or at least maintain the computer's system. But in order to land a quality job, you need to be able to stand out with some high quality certification. I'm actually working on my CCNA from Cisco. It's really helps me out that I can ask these kind of questions in their forum. Seriously, pick a specialty, try it out, and watch what happens.

Far too common now. But if you're good at it, go for it. Don't take it just coz everyone else is.

Go with whatever you're good at.
