I'm looking for a problem to solve, because that's what I do. And sleeping bags are my current target.

Thanks!

  1. the thing I hate about them is they all have a nylon shell & it is one pain in the butt to roll them back up without them sliding all over the place. As a kid I had a green coleman with red &black checks on the inside & it was all flannel & cotton.

  2. I sleep under a quilt, not because I hated mummy sleeping bags, but because it's lighter for backpacking. My quilt is made of Polarguard and very light nylon and I made it myself, with a little help from a popular lightweight backpacking guru.

  3. omg i HATE sleeping bags!!!! i hate how they are so small, i mean come on NO ONE sleeps with their legs together. i think they are so uncompfortable, so an improvment is to make them bigger maybe? and maybe a little more padding on the bottom. hope this helps! i think its cool wat u do!!!

  4. what really bothers me is that there's never enough shoulder/chest room and I always wind up sleeping with one arm out of the bag, and wake up freezing because that one arm is exposed.  it's unbearable.  and I find a lot of bags don't have enough room in the toe box either.

  5. I can give you a better problem than that.

How come the manufacturers that make sleeping bags and tents don't make their tents  big enough to fit  their Long size sleeping bags ?

  6. use blankets or a old comforter.  I would take a few so if you get to hot you can use less.

  7. a lot of modern sleeping bags have a plastic shell and filling, while light weight they aren't that warm, and you slide around inside of them.

I buy sleeping bags that are made with cotton duck for a shell and wool filing, they are comfy and really warm, but are heavy.

For my friends below, here is some advice, get two sleeping bags and use one below you like a sheet ( on top of your air mattress of course) and one of top of you like a big comforter.Unzip them, and lay them open. Do not zip them together. You'll be able to stretch out all you want and still remain quite warm. You'll need sleeping bags that aren't the mummy type, you'll need ones that can unzip and lay flat. I go camping every year at an altitude of about 10,000 feet and it gets cold out at night, but I'm cozy as can be.

Remember that air mattresses are cold to sleep on, so it's critical that you have a sleeping bag underneath you and not just one on top.

p.s. if your too hot, just stick your foot out :)

  8. I feel trapped in them and I can't get comfy, always too hot or too cold.
