  1. If you buy it at a dealership they will most likely do all that for you. if not you will need to go to the dmv to register the car in your name, you will need to show proof of insurance or they will not register it. Which means you need to contact an insurance company, get a proof of insurance (they can fax it to you that moment), take that to the dmv and you are all set.

License plates will come automatically in the mail once car is registered.

  2. If you buy from a dealer, everything will be taken care of when you sign the papers.  However, if you buy a vehicle from a private seller, you will have to go to the DMV and show proof of insurance and ownership.  Also, you will have to get financing either through your bank/credit union/etc. or use owner financing if available.

    Hope this helped!

  3. if you bought from a dealer they will take care of everything for you, except that you need to call your insurance agent to give them the vin number.

if you bought from an owner you'll need to go to the county title office and have plates transferred in your name, you'll also need prof of insurance when you go and they will give you new plates or if you already have old ones they will transfer them to you. so call ins. company first than to title office with all your paper work, they will also ask if how much you paid for the car as you have to pay tax, cost depends on the state you live in usually 6 to 7 % of cost. all this is what you have to do only if you buy from a private owner, from a dealer he will take care of it all.
