My younger brother is going into 6th grade and he plays on a little league baseball team. He's a first baseman and he's really good. He's always saying that he wants to make it to the Major Leagues some day and that he wants to play for the New York Yankees. When he reaches high school in a few years and plays baseball there, what does he have to do to get drafted? Obviously, he has to play really hard in high school but what else will he have to do?

  1. people have to come to him..he has to get scouted by pro scouts at his games

he should also go to some showcase tournaments. ive been to a few of them, like the Perfect Game showcases, where you work out in front of major league and college scouts. they get pricey but are usually a great way to get noticed

he also has to work hard. just wanting to get drafted isnt enough, especially once he gets to high school and starts to see real pitching..little league isnt a good measure of how good a person is at baseball, many people peak in little league and stink after that

long story short he has to work hard and get himself noticed

  2. First he has to continue to get better and be one of the best players in high school.

  3. Wow! Your brother wants to play in the Majors. What a rarity! Thanks for sharing that with us, I never thought I'd meet someone who has a brother who wants to play in the Majors!!!

Uh...yeah. Your brother a 20 million other guys. If he's good enough, the draft will find him. But like 20 million other guys, he won't be good enough.

  4. he needs to get seen, whether h**l be seen because he hits 20 homeruns in a season or throws 95MPH would be sweet but for most guys it doesnt come like that, they have to work for it.

so go to as many show cases as he can and play on a summer team that goes to some big time tourneys where there will def be scouts. also going to aschool that is known for baseball helps too big time, because scouts look at those schools expecting to see great ball players.

but remember, his body needs time to heal from a long season so make sure he takes it easy for a little bit so he doesnt get burnt out.
