  1. well my brother changed his name, just for the fun of it in cleveland, ohio. He had to go Downtown and at the same place where you get your marriarge liscense and divorce papers ect and fill out documents of a name change and it cost..then he went 2the DMV.that was a few years ago so things couldve changed

  2. There is an article from the Oregon State Bar here: http://www.osbar.org/public/legalinfo/11...

    That basically says

You can change your name without legal proceedings merely by using the new name. This name change must not be used for fraudulent purposes or it will not be effective. If you are married, you can choose to keep your surname or take your spouse's surname.

Oregon also has a more formal process for changing names for those who prefer proof of their new name. The rest of the article discusses the formal process. If you are under 18, you may petition for a name change, but written notice must be given to your parents or legal guardian. You may need to have your parents' consent. You also may need to have an adult guardian appointed for the purpose of changing your name. A name change for a minor child does not create an adoption, etc.

  3. If it's because you got married, take your marriage license to the Social Security office and have it changed there first, then take it to the BMV and get a new DL. Call all of your utilities and change it there as well.
