  1. Platys usually have fry about a month after thay become pregnant. The females gravid spot will become dark and her belly will look full when it is close to the time she will have them. I would seperate her when she is close to giving birth and put her in a breeding net. That way the other fish will not stress her and her fry will not be still born or aborted. Make sure the fry have some breeding grass to hide in while in the net with the mother. Take the mother out after she is finished or she will eat them. You can raise the fry in the breeding net or in a seperate tank. Congrats!!

  2. remove all the other fishes other than the mother fish and father fish

  3. You don't have to do a thing.  Fish have been having fry on their own for thousands of years.  Breeding traps are cruel and can end up with the death of the female.  It's best to plant your tank with lots of bushy plants and just leave them alone.

  4. It depends on what your goals are. Just feed daily and keep the water quality high and they will take care of the rest. When the babies are born you can either separate them if you don't want to lose any, or keep them in the tank where the adults may or may not feed on some. Adding some mossy or leafy plants can help keep the babies protected while they grow.
