  1. For me, life is an endless cycle of learning. Every experience is a learning experience. If you are going through a rough patch it's because something needs to be learned that you have not learned already. When you have learned from this experience you will learn to avoid it the next time, or deal with it in a more grown up way. When you can approach any situation with a 'can do' attitude, then you are on the road to growing up. But I think growing never ends until your life ends. There is growing to do at every stage of your life. This is what is so brilliant about life. It's never boring!!

  2. I would say you have to go through the set of experiences which will allow you to understand two things:

    1) Everything you do has consequences

    2) Time cannot go back

If you are able to understand that, I think you have grown up.

    For example:

A kid slacks of in school thinking s/he will be young forever. S/he has to go through the failure this will bring into his/her life. Then s/he will understand consequences, and realize that time cannot go back.

A young person (man or woman) decides to start smoking cigarettes because it is cool. Ten years later, the person is completely addicted, and wants to quit smoking. Cannot. That person has learned the consequences and realizes s/he would like to go back in time and avoid starting smoking; s/he would like it, but time does not go back.

There are very numerous examples, but I would say that is the bottom line:

If you understand that what you do has consequences and that once you reach the consequences time will not go back, then you have grown up.

  3. Yes, you will need experience in order to grow up. Just as important is what you do with that experience.

Other things that will help you to grow up:

Taking responsibility - as you go through life, you will undoubtedly have successes and make mistakes. If you learn from your mistakes and take advantage of your successes, that will help you grow. If you always blame others for your problems, you will be miserable and the people around you will lose respect for you.

Empathy - this is the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes. Seeing things from the other person's point of view is very important.

Honesty - be honest just because it's the right thing to do. Other people will find they can trust you, and you will be able to trust yourself.

There are a million other things that will make your path to maturity easier, but if you follow the things listed above, you'll be on your way to becoming a well-adjusted adult.

Growing up isn't always easy, but the rewards are worth it.

    Good luck!

  4. Experience can never be taught it can only be experienced... Just work hard on some thing you ll get experienced...
