  1. I got some advise from a guy I will never forget. He said whatever you have on when your ON your bike is what your going to have on when you get thrown OFF the bike. Good advse.

A EMT friend of mine told me a story once. He took a tough biker type to the hospital, thrown off his bike. He road rashed himself silly. To clean those wounds they basically use a wire brush to clean out the gravel, etc. He was screaming like a baby.

A good helmet, leathers, and boots - always a good idea.

  2. Try "www.leatherup.com" they have a decent line available with decent prices and are reliable...

Always wear eye protection and if you wear leathers you can't do much more even the kevlar stuff won't protect all that much from impacts so it's a matter of "road rash" protection. If you wear jeans, wear long pants and choose a heavy weight denim. Carhardt makes about the only inexpensive and still acceptable heavy weight jeans.... most of the rest all over $100 a pair...

  3. What ever you are comfortable in.

  4. you don't have to wear anything more than a helmet, but you should wear motorcycle specific armored jacket, boots, gloves and pants/jeans.  you will probably get hot in traffic sometimes, but a shower is much more comfortable than a skin graft.  and wearing a leather jacket you tend to dehydrate less than if you're just wearing a t-shirt;  when you stop you get sweaty, but it doesn't evaporate, then when you get moving it evaporates slowly and you get a nice airconditioning effect.  with just a tshirt your sweat evaporates quickly and you can get dehydrated, and sunburned.

  6. i regularly ride my sportster wearing just my official harley thong on,plus a helmet of course,i dont want to look silly

  7. I think you pretty much answered your own question. Apart from a helmet, it is always wise to purchase a good quality leather jacket, and a very good pair of riding boots. It makes me wince when I see riders flying down the road on a bike wearing nothing but a tee-shirt, shorts, and a pair of flip-flops!  If you are unfortunate to hit the road at speed, believe me, it is hard. I have been off five times in my riding career and it's no fun.
