What do you kind of clothes do you wear in England?

I'm from the Caribbean, and i never really experienced winter before. I'm going to go to study in England soon...starting september. I would like to know what kind of winter clothes to buy up there and what i should wear when the climate is less cold.

In public buildings and homes you will be quite warm.  Outside (especially if you are waiting around for public transport) you will be cold.  I think though that it will be easier for you to buy warm clothing when you get here as it would not be on sale in the Caribbean.  Marks and Spencer are a good place but if money is tight there are shops like Primark where you can get warm jackets and sweaters very cheaply.  Have a good time and enjoy yourself.

Compared to the Caribbean, it will of course,

be much cooler, but at least in Southern England,

because of the Gulf Stream, it is some moderated.

If you will be farther north, then expect more of a

"real" winter.

Wool sweaters (jumpers) are big - wool is used for

a lot of clothing.  And a good medium weight jacket

is sufficient in most cases - you don't need some

huge anorak or parka with thick insulation as

you would in the northern reaches of North

America or Scandinavia.

Head over to Marks and Spencer for good values

and good quality.

You might also find gloves and a hat handy for

keeping warm, but it will depend on your own

tolerance for cold, as this varies quite a bit

from one individual to another.

wear some leather jeans and some fur sweaters

hey, i just got back from england about a month ago, and all i pretty much wore was jeans and a coat. If your outdoors it does get cold but inside you should be fine.
