I lived in nepal for 6 months, 4 at a monastery, 2 travelling around a fair amount...the main places for me to see were the Swayambunath Stupa (amazing), the Bodhanath stupa(even better), kathmandu everywhere, Padmasambhava's cave, kopan, etc.. nothing, except himalai mountains.

many different ethnic groups and tribal languages due to isolation of groups in valleys between high peaks with little contact during fall/winter.  

most temples per capita in the world

birthplace of the buddha in lumbini

has variety in land from tropical forest valleys(chitwan) to highest peak in the world.

the national language is nepali, but everyone knows hindi and at least one other language

home of the gurkha soldiers who serve in nepal, india, singapore, british armies

pashupatinath is head shiva temple

i could come up with more, but that's off the top of my head.  i loved the time i spent in nepal, and still have great friends there.  too bad i forgot the language, but it's hard to practice elsewhere!
