  1. A teacher was accused of breaking the law by teaching evolution.  He was found guilty and fined.  The law was eventually overturned because it violates the establishment of religion clause in the constitution.  That is why the "intelligent design" was started to try to convince ignorant politicians that it is actual science.  The battle to violate the establishment clause  continues to this day with baseless, from a scientific point of view, pseudoscience.
