What do you know about Hermit Crabs?

We caught some Hermit Crabs at the beach. What do you feed them? Are they the same as the ones you buy at the shell shop? Should they have some salt water in their habitat? PLEASE HELP ME.....

I would reccomend not catching them, and releasing the ones you have in the same place you found them. Its not right to take an animal from its natural setting. They will most likely die, as a sudden change in enviroment and food can take a large toll on them.

If you want a hermit crab, maybe buy one from a store? Then you have a much better chance of it surviving.

If this is not an option, Id say wait for some professionals to answer. Whom maybe have done the same thing.

We did the same thing and it didnt turn out so well. We fed them the same food as our bought ones. Gave them salt water and did everything we would do for our bought ones. They didnt even last 3 weeks. I would suggest putting them back so they can live their life (if they can even do that now).

We made a big mistake by taking them and we will never do that again.
