Ramadan is the holiest month for Muslims.

The fast between the dawn and the dusk.They start it by eating before the morning Fajr prayer called sehri and break it at iftar at dusk.they open it with the azan of maghrib prayer.Between these times they can niether eat nor drink. this teaches them that Allah is watching them all time.

Because they cannot eat even when they hide from everyone.It is kind of a refresher course for them.Health wise it is also good for liver.
