What do you know about a coyote?

My computer is next to my glass doors and I just seen what I think is a coyote. I've seen one once when we were at our camp but never at my home. Are they dangerous to humans are other animals?

i think they're dangerous especially if you put it in your house children might be eaten.

Coyotes that are coming close to houses have probably learned to hunt and eat house cats, and smaller dogs.

They could be dangerous to children, but they are much more likely to be killing pet dogs and cats.

Of course if you live in an area where rabies might be a problem, then a coyote behaving strangely is possibly EXTREMELY dangerous.

Like any other wild animal, they can be dangerous, but if left alone they ordinarily aren't.  They show up in strange places: one went into a deli in Chicago, and ensconced itself in a freezer case.  Perhaps it was hot that day.

We have coyotes and bobcats where I live.  Coyotes are typically shy creatures. They are easily frightened by noise or lights.  They generally like to come out at dusk to hunt (like for your cat or chickens in a barnyard), then go back to bed at sunrise.  A coyote will avoid an animal like a goose as a goose tends to make a lot of noise.  You can easily scare a coyote away by yelling at it.  If you have motion sensitive lights, they would tend to avoid that and hunt elsewhere. However, if someone is feeding it, purposefully or inadvertently (like a dog food dish left out), it will become less fearful of humans.  This is a bad thing.  It may come right up to your porch to check you out. It may not run away when you try to yell at it or chase it away.  It may very well try to eat your 5 year old if he is squatted down on the ground looking at a bug or drawing in the dirt.  If you live in the city or suburbs, you should contact the Department of Fish and Game. They are a wild animal with sharp teeth and claws.  They are a potentially dangerous animal. There is a problem in So Cal right now with coyotes gone bad.  I live in So Cal high desert, so I'm used to it.

nop they arent dangerous to anyone but small children . because small children run and squeal like injured rabbits
