  1. Here you can read:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_...

I'm panamenian. Do you speak spanish?

  2. The other choice for the canal was Nicaragua,

the Americans used to invade Panama and Central America during the Cold War to 'show who their friends are',

the French tried to build it first and still have the French Quarter which is their answer to LoDo in Denver,

Panama got help gaining independence from Colombia because the US wanted to have the canal there, but the Colombians wouldn't let the Americans build there

and the Panamanians have the canal as of 1999, though Ronald Reagan thought we'd s***w it up.

  3. is in  central america ,bordering both the caribbean sea and north pacific ocean , between colombia adn costa rica . presdent  roosevelt was involved and the colombia senate refused  the language is spanish and it used to be colombia

  4. A great fight happened here (very political) when an American  was offered some watermelon put didn't want to pay back the cost (five cents!) of the fruit and the Panamanian vendor got very angry. It led to a big argument when the vendor took out a knife and threatened him. People later heard gunshot and 16 Americans and I think two Panamanians were dead. The governor of Panama later suggested that Americans should occupy Panama (this was in 1856).

All cause the guy was cheap and didn't want to pay watermelon!

  5. I don't know, what you know :)

  6. little fun facts: The US obtained the release of Manuel Noriega during Operation Just Cause by playing loud music at the embassy where he was hiding.

(not related to the country...but)  I owned a horse there who was a direct descendant back to one of Christopher Columbus' horses - she still lives there to this day and has had foals - I miss her.

    Cheers!
