Years ago, I wrote a lot of poems/songs in rhymes really really really fast. They came from loud thoughts in my head. Somebody told me later it was a Muse.(But I "cast my pearls among swine" & it ended up badly)

  1. As far as I knew a muse is a tangible person who inspired you.

Like that girl from Factory Girl (Sienna Miller) was a muse to Andy Warhol.

  2. muses, i never thought of it before..ill tell you something that is happening now...my hobby i design landscapes for peoples gardens, mostly for friends, and my own properties that ive had before..my mum has been asking me to do her garden, which i started months ago...now earlier this year i had quite a spiritual experience, im not even sure what or why...im not religous AT ALL... i was painting what was going to be my room for a while, at the same time i was listening to enigma....when i finished painting, i came out and told my mother i feeling really funny, strange...my voice when i spoke was coming back at me..i was starting to get a little worried, so i thought ill go to bed and sleep it off...when i layed down, 5 minutes later i started hearing music, not from inside my mind but from all around me...my whole room filled up with music, and not what i was playing earlier...it was the gregorian chant, that the monks sing ( i had to do some research to find what sort of music i was hearing )...while listening to this music i actually got up and checked the stero, it was off...so i layed back down,  as strange as it was.. it also made me very calm that i went with it...soon as i stopped worrying about what was going on, 3 monks appeared behind me..next they threw a cloth of red white and green over me, this is when i panicked...i jumped so high out of bed, and they were gone...but in later days i cannt quite explain this..but i was having visions of the garden they were inspiring me to create...i found the music i heard that night and downloaded it, which when i played it, it brought on the visions...now this garden is like nothing ive ever done before...im still working on it now, and proberly another year to finish...i put in a nice size fountain in the middle and building a piazza around it, like in italy...strangely 2 ducks have made their way here and made themselves a home, , including a white dove and my cats have accepted them and they all sit around in this garden together....now another strange thing happened about 5 days ago, (not really strange ) but 2 guys came to the door preaching about jesus...first time ever for all these things happening in this place...i told them to come back another day...few days later i asked the neibours if they saw the 2 guys as they were all home as well , but no one else had the 2 guys show up at their door ( when they showed up i was looking up demonology on the net )...so many people have asked me why go to so much trouble building this garden and i just tell them it has to be done this way...

  3. Why anyone would want to credit a Muse for their own work.Credit yourself with an inspiration. The only voice in your head is you.

  4. a muse is a spirit of inspiration.  i painted a mural on an entire wall in 1 1/2 hours.  it was inspired, i am sure.  it is beautiful.  a professional painter said that it would have taken him at least 2 weeks to paint the same thing.

  5. robert  hunter   used  to  write  many  a  song  for  jerry  garcia

it  was  hunters lyrics  and  jerry's  music that  created  an  atmosphere  for  all the  songs  to be created and so  on the  passing of jerry  garcia  robert  hunter  wrote  the  following

"muse" is  mentioned  in the  elegy

An Elegy for Jerry (by Robert Hunter)

    Jerry, my friend,

    you've done it again,

    even in your silence

    the familiar pressure

    comes to bear, demanding

I pull words from the air

    with only this morning

    and part of the afternoon

    to compose an ode worthy

    of one so particular

    about every turn of phrase,

    demanding it hit home

    in a thousand ways

    before making it his own,

and this I can't do alone.

Now that the singer is gone,

where shall I go for the song?

    Without your melody and tase

to lend an attitude of grace

a lyric is an orphan thing,

a hive with neither honey's taste

    nor power to truly sting.

What choice have I but to dare and

call your muse who thought to rest

out of the thin blue air

that out of the field of shared time,

a line or two might chance to shine --

    As ever when we called,

in hope if not in words,

    the muse descends.

How should she desert us now?

Scars of battle on her brow,

    bedraggled feathers on her wings,

and yet she sings, she sings!

May she bear thee to thy rest,

    the ancient bower of flowers

    beyond the solitude of days,

    the tyranny of hours--

the wreath of shining laurel lie

    upon your shaggy head

bestowing power to play the lyre

    to legions of the dead

If some part of that music

    is heard in deepest dream,

or on some breeze of Summer

    a snatch of golden theme,

we'll know you live inside us

    with love that never parts

    our good old Jack O'Diamonds

    become the King of Hearts.

    I feel your silent laughter

    at sentiments so bold

that dare to step across the line

to tell what must be told,

so I'll just say I love you,

    which I never said before

and let it go at that old friend

    the rest you may ignore.

  6. I agree with Toastett, A muse being a spirited light of inspiration to guide the arts and writings.as well as to move blocks in learning etc...

  7. sorry guys, but I dont think greek mythology applies to the spirit world. I dont believe Zeuses daughters are inspiring anyone to do anything. And I dont think anyone sits atop Mt. Olympus throwing lightning bolts down on the world.

His nine daughters inspiring the arts. This is a cult belief. from the word muse comes music, museum, ect.
