Is there any difference between sending faxes using a pre-paid phone card to another state (long distance service unavailable) and sending faxes without them (long distance service available)? I still have an HP officejet all in one 4215.

  1. I have used a phone card to send a fax. But not from an All-IN-One printer.

But I'll tell you had I did it through my PC, and maybe you can figure a way on you AIO.

My PC shares the same phone line with my desk phone.

First, I set up my document to print to FAX; when the FAX screen appeared, I clicked to DIAL MANUALLY.  Then I picked up my desk phone to monitor the connection. I dialed my phone manually with my calling card number, then the fax number. When I heard the fax machine on the other end, I simply clicked SEND NOW on my PC. The fax went. When I got the OK message on the PC, I hung up my phone.

Because I had selected DIAL MANUALLY, the PC did not look to initialize the modem, but rather used the modem once I had completed the connection to the remote fax.

  2. In what state do you live?
