  1. I would say it's the biggest rivalry in all sports.  I would say a Red Sox/Yankees game even if both team were below .500 & it's been many years since either team was like that, would draw more fans than let's say if the Nationals were playing the Mariners.(no disrespect to the Nationals or Mariners) but it's just the rivalry between NY & Boston & will continue forever

  2. Disagree with me all you want, but in my opinion, it's the biggest rivalry in all of sports. There are tons of emotions involved in it. A Red Sox-Yankee game isn't "just a game"...fans treat it like a life or death matter. There really isn't anything like it.

  3. I'm a red sox fan so i know all about it, its the biggest rivalry in sports, every game is like game 7 of the world series and to be a fan at one of the games is like someone handing u a million bucks

  4. If your middle name is "Bleepin," you've probably had a good Yankee moment

  5. It is what it is...it draws emotions and ratings.  I think it's fairly good for the game, but often overplayed and forced by the media. I don't blame then, it's what the masses and followers often want as they like drama...so it helps to talk about the rivalry and any tiny piece of drama that fans can latch on to and blow out of proportion. I'm not a fan of either team, but I'll watch...as I like to see the atmosphere the games create and the way players react and perform.

  6. I know that the first MLB game I ever attended was NYY vs. Boston in Fenway in September 2003 and it was the best baseball experience of my life!  The temperature, the atmosphere, the fans, the beer, the Fenway franks and seeing that series live was unbelievable!!  If you ever get a chance to see Fenway or Yank Stadium (I was there last month vs. Twins)...just go, man!

  7. I know that:

    - Friendships have been strengthened - and ended - because of it.

    - Marriages have become more intense because of it.

    - An otherwise unknown player (Bucky Dent, Aaron Boone, Dave Roberts) can become a legend if they produce in games between the rivals.

    - Your blood pressure goes through the roof if you root for one of the teams in a close game against the other.

    - I don't wear red on days when the Yankees and Red Sox play.

    - ESPN has probably overhyped every move any player makes involving those two teams. Even a mistake inside pitch can be viewed as an attempt to raise tensions.

    - Tickets to games involving the teams are way too expensive.

    - Fans have died needlessly because some people took the rivalry FAR too seriously. I may hate the Red Sox, but I'm not looking to kill or badly injure any of their fans. Those that do, regardless of the side, should get a grip and appreciate the rivalry for what it is. It's sport and no one should die because of their allegieance to a team.

    - I'll go to my grave loving the Yankees and hating the Red Sox. And my Red Sox fan friends will do just the opposite.

    - I'll gladly have a beer with a Red Sox fan if he/she can talk baseball seriously.
