It's a crosstown rivalry. Since both schools recruit a lot of the same players it leads to more intensity.

i go to UCLA and i have to say that USC does have a slightly better chance of winning football games but thats ok b/c i love being the underdog and it makes winning so much sweeter. the rivalry is very intense, i didnt realize it until i went to orientation my freshman year. They would rip on USC every chance they got. the school spirit at ucla is very high. i dont know how it is at usc though. the two schools play MASSIVE practical jokes on eachother. theyre really funny. i bet you could find some of them online if you looked.

I know that the better football program isn't always indicative of the better school, better alumni groups, better neighborhood, better faculty, better social environment or better overall value in education.
