I'm not Colombian so I'll answer this question. Many people have this stupid idea of Colombia being all drug lords, Farc militars kidnapping people, poverty everywhere, corruption, people looking like Juan Valdez and his donkey, etc. I've been to Bogota several times, and to Cali and Medellin and now planning to go to Santa Marta in the caribbean.

Let me tell you first that I absolutely LOVE how Colombians talk, their accent is unique and tegether with peruvians, they talk the best pronounced spanish in all South America. Colombia is a very nice country, with beautiful cities like Medellin in the middle of a green valley and huge mountains surrounding it. They have highland, jungle and coast so there's a little bit for everyone. Food is nice, people are nice too, very polite and old fashioned which I like, and they have some very good quality of clothing too (especially lingerie!) Never been to Cartagena although I've seen pictures and it seems to be another beautiful town.

Of course colombian coffee is the best so there's no need to explain about that.
