its a letter to the editor for the local newspaper in my hometown about our wonderful president possibly trying to pass a law that makes it so that a pharmacist can refuse to fill a prescription for birth control or the plan b pill, also trying to outlaw certain forms of birth control all together

share some of your opinions

i personally think its a crock, and without a cited link for where this lady is getting her information, im having a hard time believing its actually true.

anyways, here the link, check it out, let me know what your thoughts are on this subject.

  1. I can understand making it an option that pharmacists do not have to give birth control. If they are morally opposed to birth control or emergency contraceptives they should not be forced to deal with them.

It's not like you won't be able to get them elsewhere. Most cities and town have a CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, and Walmart pharmacy. It's unlikely that all pharmacists will be against them. Just go somewhere else.

I live in a small town too. Sometimes you have to drive to another to get what you need. Birth control is no different.

Who says they're judging? I don't want an abortion or want to perfrom one but I don't judge those who do or have. Why should they be forced to hand out drugs they don't want to be associated with. Just because they don't agree with the use doens't mean they're judging those who use them.

  2. Abortions arent outlawed or illegal so making birth control impossible to ge we will have MORE abortions. Maybe they didnt think of that? I am completely against abortions but I do not think that birth control is killing babys... if that was the case ppl going to a sperm bank to sell sperm (for all the mothers who desperately want a baby) will be in a sence "selling babys" and same with the women selling their eggs. s*x is going to happen and taking birth control is actually the "responsible" thing to do if your not wanting a baby. Why make someone have a baby just because of someone elses morals??

  3. ok well i live in a small town there is no wall mart or anything of he sort we have 2 pharmisists and every one in this crazy town is a hippy theres a good chance that neither of these pahrmacys will provid bc if givin the option then what do you suggest i do ive got 2 kids and im a good mother i dont want any more but i refuse to stop ******* my husband if they pass a law like this

  4. (This woman seems to be a bit fanatical, so I wouldn't use that as your only source of 'news'.)

Note there is a difference between Plan B and RU-486.

Regarding prescriptions, though, I think it's totally fine - a doctor can do the same thing. In each case, they will make sure you get information on where you can get that particular prescription or service.

And no, it's not that it just 'comes with the job' - that's not true. In any profession, people usually have limits to what they would do, according to their personal beliefs.

For example, you are a nurse, and the doctor decides to 'snow' a dying patient (giving meds so they die during sleep) - the nurse can refuse to administer the medication.

This first article explains things quite well -

  5. This country will be overflowing with unwanted children if this were true.... but hey, all the pro-lifers can take care of them I guess.
