I am starting in a catholic high school in September, I have gone to catholic school since kindergarten. There are many things the high school has that my other nine year school doesn't. I am really scared, there are only going to be about 11-15 (or less) students I will know - I graduated with them - and we might not even have the same classes. Back to my original question, what do I learn in Biology? Also is it normal NOT to have any history in 9th grade, I don't have history this year, I know because I have to buy my own books. I am worried that the rich students going to the school will make fun of me because I have to buy used books and I only go to go here on a scholarship, and that is what I have to work for every year, a scholarship or I can't go anymore. There is so much pressure, please help..

Did anyone notice that the new Yahoo questions spell checker doesn't work? It corrects the misspelled word (sometimes) but when it does the word is backspaced into the word next to it and the last letter of the word is doubled.

  1. Body systems, structure of a cell, ecosystems, protein synthesis, cloning DNA, replication and a lot of other stuff about the body. Biology is ALL in the studying.

  2. PLEASE RELAX! Kids will no make fun of you if you havea used book. They will probably have Used bookes too. In 9th grade you learn about different cells. you learn the difference between aa animal cell and a plant cell. You also learn about your body. your respitory system and your digestive system. Hope this helped. You'll be fine. I think you will be able to make friends fine(:

  3. who cares go there and find out

u make new friends dont stick to the old ones

noone will makefun of you for having used books lol

just say you messed with the textbooks

  4. At least you know some people that you will see in the hallways. That helps. And what if people make fun of you? You are MUCH more than what they see! You know you are made in God's image, and that's nothing to make fun of--ever! (Make sure you don't look down on anyone, either).

My school doesn't offer history in 9th grade either. We do geography then. You might take a look at the whole curriculum with the guidance counselor to make sure your questions are answered about your classes.

As for biology, it's a whole lot of memorization, which most 9th graders are pretty good at. Most schools do dissection of small animals like worms and frogs in the labs. If you don't like science, it's not an easy course, but if you memorize well you'll do great.

    Have a wonderful year.

  5. First off, DONT care about what others think of you and your books. I mean when you get to college, EVERYONE buys used books!! Trust me!!  That is not a big deal nor should it be since its no one's business what you get with your money. As far as biology, we mostly talked about animals, plants, and some human anatomy. We dissected a frog, fish, and grasshopper as well. It really isn't hard it just is intimidating I know when you're first getting into it. Just take things a lecture at a time and you'll do great. Of course all schools and their curriculum's are different and teach different things. So no, its not unusual you didn't have a history this year. You'll probly make it up in another history in the next year or 2 im sure.

  6. just don't worry cause everything will be ok!

    good evening!
