What do you like and dislike about ballet?

I like the music, tights and tutus.

I dislike nothing.

I like the rythym and the way it's so graceful. It's beautiful to watch ballet and the good dancers make it look so easy!

I don't really like the tutu's - i mean why not just keep to the leotards for god sake!

i love ballet its graceful and ive been taking it since i was 3 and its im taking point next year and i cant wait and i love ballet and it works a lot of your muslues and so that makes u skinnier

the thing i dont like about ballet is that like the other person said u spend a lot of time on the bar but the next morning im sore but other than that its really fun

I like how beautiful it is, but dislike how hard it is.

Ballet when done well is beautiful, graceful and skillful. It makes the dancer feel great and everybody watching finds it relaxing and enjoyable to watch (if they have taste!).

I dislike ballet when it is forced upon children, you can see sometimes that parents have enrolled their children when they were too young to have a choice.

I must preface by saying that i couldn't live without ballet.

like:

turns

jumps

costumes

performances

pointe shoes

friends

that it helps you with every other kind of dance

music

being able to do things non dancers can't

buns

my teacher

little girls wanting to be like you

without it i would be the clumsiest person on the face of the earth

you can take your mind off everything else and just focus on having the perfect plie'

dislike:

being sore

messing up

people complaining about guys in tights

that it's not considered a sport

but it's all worth it!

I love ballet and have danced for 11 years, two of that being en pointe, the only bit that i don't enjoy is being sore the day after class.

Nothing I absolutly love it...been dancing ballet since i was 4 and i'm now 15 taking advanced classes and en pointe. I love it and dislike nothing ab it...unless u count being sore lol

its fun and since its the hardest sport ever and I play football with my older brothers so and there is nothing that I hate bout it! and my bff and I got our brothers to try on our pointe shoes that was so funny!!! ( they we our old shoes we had to get new ones )

Well, I love ballet, I've been dancing for 9 year now and I'm going to start pointe work soon. I love everything about ballet. I don't really dislike anything because everything we do in class is to help with something else. Sure, I would prefer not to do 100 sit-ups, but I focus on how strong those will make me, not how hard they are going to be. I just LOVE ballet!!!!!

Hi I have been taking ballet for 11 years now and I also take pointe. Ballet is one of my favorite dances:

Very graceful

gives you great technique

Calming

very pretty costumes

gives you poise

makes you feel pretty

I dislike:

Doing bar for a while because it gets tiring

Everything has to be precise and perfect

I dislike not being good enough to do it, not having the balance to turn, that sort of thing. I dislike every muscle in my feet cramping at the same time and having to carry on anyway. I dislike being too fat to have a decent arabesque. I dislike sweating so much I need a towel. I dislike pulling in my internal organs so much that they feel like they're up ion my ribcage, then getting told by the teacher that I have no posture. I dislike ignorant people dismissing it as easy.

Other than that, I love that you always know where you are with ballet, that there IS a 'right' for everything, and a name for every move. I love how it looks when done well. I love feeling like I'm flying in grande allegro.

I like that its so graceful and beautiful but I dislike that going to the ballet is soooo boring.  There should be a way to make it more interesting.

Ballet, like much good dancing, has it's merits.  But I can't get past those pictures of how deformed (old) ballet dancers' feet look.  It makes me think of China's 'Lily Feet'.

As a deputy stage manager in a repertory theatre, and working backstage during two RBS shows at the Opera House, what I loved was Viviane Durante and Anthony Dowell treating me as a professional and not as a slave. What I hated was the catty little 'swans' in the corps trying to rip each others eyes out with less than perfectly extended fingernails.
