What do you like in books for your little one?

Question

So my son, now 9 months, and I love to read books together. His book collection probably has close to 200 books in it. I have decided to make my own books for him because I love to write, I love to draw and I love my son(oh and we are running out of good books!), so I figure perfect combination! So I ask of you, what are the things you love for books to have for your little ones? What types of stories, themes, characters, colors, etc? What are your favorite books to read with your child(ren)? All of this info would be lovely! Thank you in advance!!

making new friends (being friendly to the new kids in class),

involve all ethnicities,

losing gracefully,

being nice to bullies (spread the love!),

doing good deeds just because they're good (and not for a 'reward'),

helping out

do not lie

stranger safety

'mom and dad love you no matter what!'

**I was just rambling from my head, lol.  I know, these subjects catch my attention when I pick out books.  Or when I pick out a cartoon for my kids to watch.  And I have to say, my oldest has turned into an awesome young lad!**

i agree a lot with bugsey.. maybe throw some in there about keeping hands to yourself.. (yo gabba gabba has that cute song about it)

colorful is always better for my son, vivid pictures.. maybe make a correlation of his favorite nursery rhymes.. my son loves those, and we have a book with very nice pictures along with the rhymes.

Make some simple "stories" about animals but include many facts about them. (or countries) You could make up stories while using math at the same time.. (i couldnt give an example, it seems like a neat educational idea though... oh like "the very hungry caterpillar" if you have ever read it, it makes you count as you read.)

my son is 10 months old and right now he LOVES the touch-and- feel books so if you wanna make one yourself you can just buy some nice fabric for the animals fur get different textures for different animals...
