  1. Me personally I look for graphics, art style, type of game (because I'm more into rpgs, first person shooters, and action/adventure ) and madden. Also I look at who developed the game. I will pretty much buy anything that has Square Enix on it because they are by far my favorite developer and they hardly ever make a bad game.  Sometimes I like to wait a little while after a game comes out to check ign.com or something like for a review and that helps me decide whether or not to purchase a certain game.

  2. Originality and a proven track record, of which the Zelda series I would say is the perfect example, its proven Nintendo can make great games time and time again, while at the same time staying original for example Ocarina of Time is completely different to Majoras Mask, Final Fantasy is another good example of meeting both those requirements.

I'd say art is more important than graphics, its not the number of polygons on screen that matters but how well they use them, to make it fit in with the feel of the game.

  3. Gameplay and story.

Graphics help somewhat, but I'm a big gameplay/story guy.

  4. good graphics good controls a storyline that makes sense like on 50 cent bulletproof it was stupid you had to go into a warehouse then turn on the power to get out the warehouse it has to be around or over 6 hours unless it is half price and has to have good reviews

  5. i often look gameplay and story i dont really look for graphics as much as good gameplay and story

  6. Good storyline and good controls.  Nothing ruins a game more than bad controls.  What's the point of playing a game if the game doesn't respond to the controls.

  7. Good control and story.

  8. well, to put to you. i say everything you listed I'm a big fan of zelda and they have proven that.first ones ok, but when it went into 3d that changed everything. graphics were ok but majoras mask changed that to with better graphics and controls. then wind waker comes along. it had awesome graphics but to cartoony. had great controls and storyline.then to me the best of them twilight princess. it had amazing graphics great gameplayand great controls.so i look for graphics, good gameplay, good controls, good story

  9. Mostly graphics, addictiveness, story, and player capabilities. I like RPG's where the player can basically do whatever they want. I'm a big of Oblivion and Rainbow Six Vegas 2. I like where you can cuztomise your character also.

  10. Mostly good gameplay and good controls. I'm not too concerned about the story, but it's nice to have a good one

I also look for great music in games, such as Uncharted: Drake's Fortune for example, the music was amazing!

Gameplay is the most important out of all those, right? What's the point of playing a game if it isn't fun?

And like SuperDork said, bad controls just ruins the game for me. If I can't play the game properly, then it's just ruined for me, nothing will redeem it.

Good point Triforce, I think Artistic Direction makes "better" graphics than just a large number of polygons, like Shadow of the Colossus for the PS2, the graphics weren't great technologically, but the artistic direction made up for it.

  11. -Good graphics

    -Length

    -Gameplay

    -Storyline

  12. Indefinitely good controls.  I also want good gameplay.  Gameplay is the most important aspect of a game (no arguements here).

Many people may bash me for this, but I don't care much about the story.  What's the point of a game with an epic-ly epic story but the gameplay sucks?  But if a series is known for epic stories, then I'll have high expectations for it.  So I was pretty much disappointed with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.  However, I DO care about the story if it's been used over and over again.  Nintendo must change Mario and Zelda stories, 'cause they're all the same!

Graphics are of my least concern.  However, they must meet my standard, and my standard is pretty low.

  13. I dont normally care about the graphics, but if they are good then it helps! Normally i go for good storys since i am into zelda games.
