  1. the 1 with the prettiest silks and the 1 that usaully wins

  2. i look at track  bias, if the jockeys riden and won on the horse before, track and distance if the horse has raced at that track at that distance and if its won at that track or that distance, its form leading into the race, what barrier the horse starts from

when im at the track i look at the horses condition, if it looks a little plump or if its sweating up in the mounting yard, i look too see if he's on his toes or if he's nice and relaxed,

this is just a few things to look at when punting, and everybodys different. if you took into account what everybody looks at you could probably put a line through every runner in a race. the best thing you can do is listen to what your gut tells you, dont take the so called expert advice that everyone has! trust me they generally dont know anymore than you!

  3. CLASS, DISTANCE, LASTED RACED, ODDS, TRAINER, JOCKEY.

  4. I look for Jockey and past jockeys, latest beyer speed ratings, record, sire, if the track has picked among fave to win, odds and finally if I like the name of the horse

  5. I always look at the way they are walking, calm, not sweating up, not grinding their teeth or neighing or displaying coltish behaviour (mainly 2yo's) do this.

Also have found that checking out upset tummy's (dirty bottoms) can pay dividends (not sure why but it works).

After paddock inspection watch them going down, if they bolt to the start that is not a good sign, they use up lots of energy.  Watch their action, high knee means they will go well in the soft, low action (daisy cutter), means they will like good/firm ground.

As far as statistics go I don't usually take much notice, the horse doesn't know so why worry.  But horses for courses is usually a good one to watch out for.

After  you have done all that then it's up to the horse and jockey and a lot of luck.

Have fun and enjoy your racing.....xx

  6. If there is one thing I look for??

Trainers.. not the horse. Why does this leading trainer have this horse in this race? Why did this trainer buy this horse?  ect.

  7. Ex) Race=1M on Turf.

I look for horses that have run 1M on Turf and see how they placed in their previous races and their time. If the horse has placed 3rd or higher in a 1M Turf race then I consider it and check the time (i.e 1:36). If a horse with a faster time than this came in 3rd or higher in a previous race I would choose that horse, and so on and keep checking all the horses.

I also go down to the Paddock to see if any horse in acting up or looks hyper. If one is I usually try to play it it with my bets because most of the time they show somewhere.

  8. you should pick the one that looks strong, healthy, young

  9. breeding and speed can help. also endurance depeing on the distance in the race. make sure the horse seems happy but not jumpy and over-excited. a calm horse will give a very good run. a horse with heart. also, knowing what kind of track (dirt or turf) the horse likes best at which distance and the condition of the track(fast, muddy, yielding...) can also help in a horse's performance.

  10. the speed each of them are doing, when they last ran and what age they are.

  11. Age,Health,Type of turf,Time of day,Color,Look in his eye I put all that into consideration close my eyes and pick!!

  12. I look for the horses speed ratings

  13. kentucky bred horses win more races than any other

  14. The jockey, morning line odds, the tote board(how everybody is betting), the longer you wait the better. The last race post position where they start and finish. And, get you a program and read the experts comments. Most importantly, try to think like the crooks(bet against the public).
