  1. Engineering.........& don't know type or salary....

  2. electronics, maybe?

  3. As finding a true automotive engineering degree would be difficult, any major type of engineering would be fine: mechanical, electrical, even chemical, because it's up to the automaker to determine the number of each engineer that they need, and every engineering field is integral to manufacturing.

  4. Major in Automotive Engineering at university.

There is another Yahoo Answers question about the salary of an automotive engineer:

  5. If you want to work on cars (say, as a mechanic) you'll want to go to trade school, not college.

However, if you want to help build and design cars, a degree in automotive engineering would be perfect. I know that Clemson University in SC has this option. Other than that, probably mechanical engineering is what you want.
