What do you make of Harry Redknapp's England XI?

Question

Harry Redknapp has named his ideal starting 11, only 2 changes to Wednesday nights team, would this team really make much difference?

Goalkeeper: David James (Portsmouth)

Right-back: Wes Brown (Manchester United)

Centre-back: Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United)

Centre-back: John Terry (Chelsea)

Left-back: Ashley Cole (Chelsea)

Defensive midfield: Gareth Barry (Aston Villa)

Right midfield: Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)

Central midfield: Steven Gerrard (Liverpool)

Central midfield: Frank Lampard (Chelsea)

Left midfield: Joe Cole (Chelsea)

Striker: Peter Crouch (Portsmouth)

He states that Gerrard is wasted on the left, which i completely agree with but then he sticks Rooney on the right! Surely it would make more sense to put Gerrard in place of Lampard and play Rooney just behind Crouch with Bentley on the right?

Your opinion on his selection please and how would yours be different?

I would have thought Defoe, but as he's trains them every week then I suppose he knows their form better than us.

Therefore, I agree with his choices, Rooney can play from pretty much anywhere, it's his awareness and ability that count not the position.

why would you use 2 wingers to get back when you've got gerard who can do the job of those 2

lampard plays better from the middle of the pitch

Defoe would make a better striker than peter crouch..

i think england should play gary neville once he has played a few games with united...when he came back from injury he was extremely sharp and wonderful..

You would be better off asking what do people make of Harry Redknapp I for one think he is a waste of space

It has the same problem of sticking with the players that have disappointed so much.  I think they need to try a completely different team, nobody should be guaranteed a place.

Brown, A Cole, Rooney, Lampard, Crouch should all be replaced imho and players like Ashley Young should be played.

All I would specify is Beckham and Brown out and you takes your choice!

Not because I don't like Becks but he is very static and you need movement to win anything, and Brown is pretty awful!
