What do you make of Starluck last night? He won on the all-weather at Kempton but does that make him a real contender for the Champion Hurdle.

Winning a 0-95 handicap over a mile on the Polytack doesn’t prove much other than the horse is fit and well. Has always given me the impression that he’s a bit of a short runner over a really stiff two miles like Cheltenham. And there’s bound to be plenty of pace which will place even more emphasis on his stamina.
