What do you make of Tiger Woods latest comments about Hockey?

He has gotten a lot of grief over what he said about Hockey, and here is his response when asked about it.

"Oh yeah, I've gotten a lot of grief over that. I love the sport. I love watching it in person, but I don't like watching it on TV. In person, it's absolutely incredible what they're able to do. TV doesn't do justice to that. But then, a lot of sports are the same way.

It is what it is. I said what I said and I was trying to be funny about it, but people didn't perceive it that way."

I personally wasn't offended by his comments as I don't care what other people think or say, but a lot of people took it personally. I'm just wondering if those people who took it personally are able to see now that Tiger was just kidding. He says that he loves watching it in person, and is amazed at what they are able to do.

  1. His joke flamed out in face and he is now backpedaling because maybe people that play hockey also play and or like golf and he and his sponsors are afraid of loosing the big bucks

The slam on hockey was uncalled for, all the reporter wanted him to say was Detroit because they where in Detroit and everyone would have a laugh or two. Instead he says let's talk baseball, I mean he could have talked about the Pistons because I believe at that time they were still in the NBA playoffs but he goes off the board with the Dodgers then takes a swipe at hockey.

I never really like Tiger Woods because he has always came off as an elitist, spoiled brat that would promote drunk driving for the right price tag. Now I just flat out hate him and hope his trophy wife cheats him, his career flames out and everything goes very wrong for him.

  2. Funny how many people "don't care what he said", yet they keep responding to questions about it. To be fair I may look like a hypocrite responding to this to point out the obvious but can't help it. He was only asked about it because he was in Detroit and they were in the Finals. That to me tells me what the people he was talking to thought of the Stanley Cup Finals, and therefore hockey, in general. People really need to give it a rest. I'm sure plenty will disagree with me and that's their right, but really if you don't care what he says then stop talking about it. I don't like watching golf, so should golf fans come on here and attack me, just because they disagree?

  3. he's just trying to cover up so that he can go back on to winning id choose hockey over golf anyday

  4. honestly, i wasn't really offended.  I believe he said something like "no one watch hockey anymore."  Thatn's not completely true.. but its close.  I watch hockey as much as I can, don't get me wrong.  But with our pathetic commissioner Betman, hockey is on VS. like 5 times a month.  On top of that, a majority of the ppl don't even get that channel.  So, it's hard to watch hockey.

Unfortunately, the guy pretty much stated how bad Betman was, whether he knows who he is or not.  I really don't like watching golf, even if Tiger is playing.

I'm glad TIger likes hockey.  Now maybe more people will watch it, cuz of what he said.

But hockey fans really need to get over it.  I'm a fan (my favorite sport, yeah!) and it didn't really bother me.  It doesnt matter what he says about hockey.  If The Great One had said something, be offended.  But not if Tiger says it.. please!

  5. He is trying to save face. it is true though, Hockey live is nothing like hockey on TV. In fact NHL hockey in the upper level is nothing like NHL hockey near the glass. You just can't capture the speed of the game on TV. It is so much faster then you imagine.

  6. who cares what some bum says? he's a freakin golf player...thats not even a sport, its a hobby/pasttime....WOO swing a club hit a ball, in a cup....whoopi....no one cares, s***w golf

    HOCKEY!

  7. Who cares what he says about hockey!!! there are many people out there who have great things to say about hockey!

he's just one who has something bad to say!

    * cough** backpaddeling **cough*

  8. I was mortally insulted

  9. It doesn't help the sport, I'll tell you. If someone said "no one watches golf" there'd be a controversy.

Bettman should say something after he gets done counting his millions..

  10. dude he likes hockey why would anybody complain about that!?!?

  11. Dude, that was a week ago, move on.

Plus, at least he publicly had his foot in his mouth; which is more than what I can say about other athletes. That takes class....would you publicly do that?

  12. after his first comments about hockey i was pretty pissed and lost respect for him but now i like him even less. he is trying to take back what he said to save himself. i don't believe anything he says. it really pisses me off that a golfer would say that no one watches hockey. I think he is full of c**p and i don't bleive anything he said in this stupid quote of his

  13. It's OLD news. Who cares what a Golfer says? Golf isn't even a sport.

  14. Haha he's not losing any sponsors over that comment.  Who cares what he said. I love hockey, but it isn't the most popular sport.

  15. Hockey is the best sport in the world.I never watch golf.

  16. I wouldn't take anything seriously from a guy who plays a sport where the fans have to shut up before the "athlete" plays.  I mean, the ball's just SITTING there!  Why do we have to be quiet?  In hockey, we bang on the glass and scream like crazy and the players don't seem to mind.  F golf, the dumbest "sport" ever invented.

  17. That's what I call backpedeling.  Oh I didn't mean it in a mean way! I was trying to be funny. Yeah riiiiight.

I don't care what he thinks.

  18. I never thought it was too big of a deal. When he realised that real atheletes do his job for a passtime, he got jealous and made a stupid coment. Now that he's realised he was way off, he's trying to back out of it. To me it's not much past something to laugh at.
